11 April brought Horsfall’s Coy to Hillsborough, NC to support Lord Cornwallis’ occupation of the city. After an ill-fated pursuit of Gen Green north and falling short of catching up to him before he crossed the Dan River, Cornwallis headed south to Hillsborough to refit and recruit Loyalists to the King’s cause. The 23rd set up a small encampment during the city’s Revolutionary War weekend where the company practiced drill, engaged the crowds with living history demos and educational presentations of the historic occupation.
Once again, Richard Coyle’s 3 pound grasshopper cannon and his presentation were crowd favored highlights.
A film crew was also there and our own Cpl. Kevin McClain was interviewed. His video is on YouTube.
