An annual event for the Horsfall Coy that allows us to interact with and educate the public, practice our drill in preparation for Mount Vernon, indulge in some comradery, and for the new Fusiliers, learn more about the Regiment and our uniform. We had a great turnout – 18 in attendance. The crowd was the largest to date. We were the only British unit there so we received much attention. Tim King took the King’s shilling and joined the ranks with his son, Eli. We had our most senior Southern Company Fusilier, Pvt. Richard Coyle, bring his cannon (3 pounder) for static display which drew a lot of attention as well.
We did have one serious safety incident with a person unaffiliated with a reenactor group. He used his rammer during firing sequences, and it ended up being shot out of his rifle. This incident reminds us to be vigilant in our safety protocols for our own safety but more so for the safety of the public.
