In attendance for the weekend were Alex Ivanchishin, Eric Bothur, Greg Brunson, Micah Brunson, Matt Morrill, Jordan Rowland, Hayes Wauford Sr., Hayes Wauford Jr., Eric Spaar, Kevin McClain, Monty Dixon, Mike Lung, Denis Messier, Fred Crater, Blake Phillips, Ben Beers, Jack Pritchard, Alexander Reilly, Shane Reilly, Denis LeMay, Jonathan Mathews, Eric Morris, Dillon Morris, Kathy and Alan Hughes.
Much of our company again stayed at our traditional AirBB (Barracks) in Greensboro with wargames and libations on Friday night. Alan and Kathy Hughes again set up their kitchen/tavern at the camp site and provided period food throughout Saturday – thank you Hughes!
The battle recreation on Saturday had the British line extending the 23rd and 33rd further to the left in the woods than usual. Ground never before traversed by us proved a bit challenging but under the adept field command of Shane Reilly we were able to engage the enemy, break through their defensive lines and emerge once again triumphant. Good show and fun had by all.
The 23rd then re-convened at Heritage Hall for the 250th Anniversary of the regiment’s St. David’s Day celebration, minus the goat, held in Boston, March 1775. It was another record for our Saint David’s Day dinner—with the
23rd and our invited guests the 33rd and 14th regiments in attendance—we had close to 60 people sharing our annual dinner and celebration.
The Sunday battle event was cancelled because of weather. Some of us took advantage of the time by visiting the actual battlefield and museum on Sunday before heading home.
