The 23rd was at Princeton battle reenactment on 04 Jan 2026. We fielded 9 Fusiliers (RSM, RDM and 7 muskets) as part of a much larger showing by both Continental and Crown forces leading up to the 250th Anniversary next year.
It was reported this was a record year in terms of numbers since this event was reintroduced as an annual program many years ago. More than 360 reenactors and approximately 4,000 spectators were on the field. Following the battle a memorial ceremony was conducted to honor the dead from the historic battle. Reenactors portraying the actual units that were involved in the battle participated in the ceremony. 23rd did not participate in the ceremony.
All over by 1130, some of our lads dispersed for home and others attended a lunch hosted by the Spaar family.
The weather was chilly but tolerable at 34 degrees and no wind. Some light snow dusting the frozen ground.
We were ably led by RSM Astle as part of the right wing along with the 42nd Highland Grenadiers. We marched out and met the Continental force head on with spirited volleys. Crown forces were holding their own, but In the end, the Continentals rallied and forced our retreat. Some of our lads were taken prisoner.
The end. God Save The King!
RSM Paul Astle, RDM Joe Siegel, Sjt. Mike Lung, Alex Ivanchishin, Eric Spaar, Denis Messier, Jordan Rowland, Andrew Nedelka and Matt Oxley fought bravely for King and Country.
