A decisive event for the American Revolution.  Under the command of Lieutenant General Charles Cornwallis, a 2,100-man British force defeated 4,500 Americans led by Major General Nathanael Greene.  While they won the field, the British Army suffered considerable casualties, approximately a quarter of their total force.  The battle was “the largest and most hotly contested action” in the American Revolution’s southern theater.

March 2026 marks the 245th commemoration of this historic event.
